24.Manager speaks

Having gone on a 7 game goalless drawing streak. it has forced me to look at my tactics again. obviously something is wrong! we dont seem to be getting breaks in the box as one lone striker is vastly outnumbered for crosses by defenders. Is it the wingers? are they not good enough? why cant they pick out the striker with regularity? yet clubs constantly bid for them especially Ebert. So they must be good and at 22 performing as they are they definately are good. So the problem is elsewhere. I had overloaded the midfield with 3 powerhouses but maybee the time has come to lessen the load and give help with a strike partner for Victor.I tried fast dribblers alongside and had brief success in trialist's like Diego (not the famous one).Everton and Victor have never had a full game together yet, so I laboured to find a way to form a strike partnership blend. Since Everton is a great dribbler i made him the deeper lying player with Victor being released for thru balls. Ever since changing from 4-3-2-1 to 4-2-4 with wingers behind the forwards my team has played some lovely stuff and began to bang in the goals again.

Everton and Victor have formed a dynamic duo as the two centre midfielders (usually now Hurtado and asamoah yes asamoah!!)supply cracking thru balls and the wingers find them easier as they cross.

With league games soon to be resumed i go into them with renewed confidence and hopefully chasing down the leader.
